'DamNation' Opens Fall Green Film Series

The Green Film Series will open their fall season on Monday, September 15 with the film DamNation at the Gibsons Heritage Playhouse, and Thursday September 18 at the SC Arts Centre in Sechelt. This film explores the changing attitude towards dams in the past 50 years, their removal and the recovery of the fish and eco-systems of the rivers.

Award-winning film Watermark Screens on March 17 to mark UN World Water Day

In recoognition of  UN World Water Day this week, the Green Film Series brings the award-winning film, Watermark to the Gibsons Heritage Playhouse on Monday, March 17 at 7:30 pm. Watermark is a feature documentary film that brings together diverse stories from around the globe about our relationship with water: how we are drawn to it, what we learn from it, how we use it and the consequences of that use.

Gasland Part II, screening Monday February 17

With the current proposal to bring a liquid natural gas (LGN) facility to Howe Sound, The Green Film Series continues to bring timely films to the Sunshine Coast with the screening of Gasland Part II on Monday, February 17 at 7:30 pm at the Gibsons Heritage Playhouse. This film takes a broader look at the dangers of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, the controversial method of extracting natural gas and oil, now occurring on a global level .
